Columbia Museum of Art

The photograph is a 12x12 piece which is owned by the Morrison Hotel Gallery.  The photograph is of Eric Clapton in a hotel room and was taken by his wife, Pattie Boyd, in 1974.  It is a chromogenic print which means it is full color photographic print made using chromogenic materials and processes.

The photo is of Eric Clapton sitting in a anonymous hotel room in nothing but a towel with a cigarette in his hand.  His guitar is sitting next to him on a shiny red 70's style couch.  There is also a painting on the wall above the couch of a couple sitting on a beach staring out to sea.  Clapton is not looking at the camera, instead he is facing in a different direction.  Clapton seems to convey a sense of solitude in the photo, while the title ("Another Hotel Room") suggests the lack of variety and repetition of being on the road.
