Assignment #5

1.  Jazz music can be seen as a mix between African and European music traditions.  It often can be explained as the "Blues" music.  In this type of music, improvisation plays a critical roll.  Jazz originated in the beginning of the 20th century in African American communities in the South Eastern United States.  This makes it unique to Americans because the style of music itself was created in America.

2.  Peter- string instruments, the Duck- oboe, the Wolf- french horns, the Bird- flute, Grandfather- bassoon, the Hunters- woodwind instruments and bass drums

3.  Classical music is rooted in the traditions of Western religious music and non religious music.  This style of music encompasses a broad period of time from the 11th century to present time.  Most of the instruments used in Classical music were invented before the mid 19th century.  Some Classical music composers are; Mozart, Joseph Haydn, and Johann Sebastian.
